In addition to Bairstow's work on Dawson, she is one of the leading researchers on the famous Frida Kahlo painting titled "El Suicidio de Dorothy Hale" (Suicide of Dorothy Hale). When she began researching the painting over a decade ago, Bairstow unexpectedly found many contradictions about Dorothy Hale's life and mysterious death.
Since uncovering these shocking revelations, Bairstow has written a play and is now lecturing about the mysterious circumstances swirling the actress’ death.
On March 31, 2012, LACMA hosted the first of Bairstow’s speaking engagements on Frida Kahlo’s famous painting, “The Suicide of Dorothy Hale,” in conjunction with their special exhibit “In Wonderland: The Surrealist Adventures of Women Artists in Mexico and the United States.” The lecture, titled “Frida Kahlo’s Portrait of Dorothy Hale: Dreams, Dramas and Revelations,” explored Hale’s relationship with Clare Boothe Luce and revealed never-before-seen documents, letters and photos. Bairstow also revealed shocking contradictions and inaccuracies regarding the life and death of Dorothy Hale.
Bairstow has been asked to lecture at future events.
